1/385 USS Montrose APA-212 (Revell)

This is the Revell kit of the USS Montrose, an attack transport of the Hascall class.  It is named after a county in western Colorado.

The scale of the model is about 1:385.  This is an old kit, my instruction sheet bearing a copyright date of 1966.  The hull was waterlined and scribed for plating.  Some parts were scratchbuilt, such as the large winches, the searchlight platform and the two-tiered rack for LCVP's forward.

Many other parts are from L'Arsenal in a mixture of 1:350 and 1:400 scales.  These include all weapons and directors, all railings, the SA radar, life rafts, LCVP's and LCM's.  I used Alliance Modelworks PE for pulleys, hooks and some cables.  The decals were made by Hawk Graphics.  The rigging was caenis thread and invisible thread.  Paint was primarily LifeColor and chalks were used for weathering.  My friend and fellow modeler Carl Musselman took the photographs.
