1/72 USS Rednour APD-102 (Scratchbuilt)

The *USS /Rednour/ (APD-102)*, ex-*DE-592*, was a USN high speed transport in commission from 1944 to 1946. APD stands for "Auxiliary Personnel Destroyer". She//was laid down as the Rudderrow class destroyer escort USS Rednour (DE-592) on 30 December 1943 and was launched  on 12 February 1944. The ship was reclassified as a Crosley class high speed transport redesignated APD-102 on 17 July 1944.

Modification consisted mainly in provisions to accommodate troops in an enlarged center section, the addition of 4 LCVP's under two Welin davits also in the center section and a substantial modification of the aft bridge eliminating the guns and adding of a couple of derricks. The model is a plank-on-frame construction covered with a layer of GRP to simulate the metal construction. From the deck up it's made using mainly plastic card. Details are made using everything from metal to plastic, to resin, etc. The main task was to accurately reproduce the USN Measure 31 20-L painting scheme both in color shades and spots form. Since it's in 1:72 scale it measures 4' 6" in length.
