1/387 USS Whetstone LSD-27
The USS Whetstone was steam turbine driven, unlike its predecessor LSD
26 Tortuga which was reciprocating steam. Whetstone finished out its career
assisting Riverine forces in early Vietnam going. I re-arranged some items
and added the partial deck to give the model a rough appearance of the
Whetstone circa 1967.
