USS North Carolina
by James Herndon

1/350 USS North Carolina BB-55 (Trumpeter)

This is my second building of the NC-55 as she appeared on arrival at Pearl in 1942. She is preparing to launch a Kingfisher while recovering the return craft (note recovery mat in water). This is my first attempt to portray water and try scratch building. Had to cut a lot of the late model gun tubs off and build the Three gun mount on No. 3 turret. The tower is lacking the middle platform and all structure changes are scratch. I used Lion's Roar NC kit as well as Gold Metal PE, along with White Ensign Kingfisher (third plane on deck). Had a great time building this version as it made me work a little. I learned to not put tooo much rust (Not on this model, but the next), and she MAY be going to fast for the plane pickup, But boy is it fun!!!!!!!
