1/250 RF Massena (Golden Bear Models)

R.F. Massena is a French predreadnought battleship. Construction began in September of 1892 in the Ateliers et Chantiers de la Loire shipyard. She was 369ft (112meters) in length with a beam of 66ft (20meters). Displacement was approx. 11,750 tonnes. The ship was commissioned in June of 1898.

Massena is a member of a class of battleships including Charles Martel, Jaureguiberry, Bouvet and Carnot. Although they were considered the same class, these 5 ships differed significantly in design, appearance and dimensions. The design was considered by many as unsuccessful, however, Massena is a modeler’s delight, with its array of single turrets, excessive tumblehome, extended bow and myriad decks. This exceptional kit from Golden Bear Models is 1:250 scale and is available at Gremir Models. It is a card/paper production. This rendition features hand-made paper railing and rigging. Details showing construction from start to finish can be found at papermodelers.com.
