Iéna

1/250 Iéna (Golden Bear Models)

Iéna’s keel was laid in 1898 and she was completed four years later. She was 401ft in length with a beam of 68ft. In 1907 her career was ended by a magazine explosion and fire.

This kit, M.N.F. Iéna 1:250 scale, is designed by Golden Bear Models and can be purchased at “GreMir Models”. It is a card/paper production and was the first French pre-dreadnaught battleship made available to the card modeling public. The entire project is composed of card/paper with the exception of the upper mast spars (wood) and the anchor chain (metal). The railing and rigging are hand made from paper and paint and the hull below the waterline has been painted (green). Details about construction from start to finish can be found at papermodelers.com. If you are a fan of the ships from this era, I highly recommend this one.
