1/350 IJN Mikasa (Hasegawa )
Back in 2006 I built by first 1/350 model, the Mikasa. As the years
went by and my modeling prowess gradually improved, I kept looking at the
model and seeing things would have done differently -and better. Last winter,
wanting a simpler project as a break and being tired of looking at not-quite-straight
masts, I decided to rebuild my model. The "simpler project" idea proved
of course to be a masochistic illusion, as the work involved was more substantial
than my initial vision, but I enjoyed (most parts) of the process and I
like the result, which now fits with my collection of waterlined 1/350
ships.
Main changes: waterlining and building a sea base, new PE, additional
brass barrels, new PE, crew, correcting the paint scheme and replacing
the rigging with stretched sprue.
