1/350 Italian Battleship Roma (Trumpeter)
My submission this time is Italian battleship Roma. The Trumpeter kit is pretty delicate, still detail-up sets from Flyhawk, Trumpeter, Chuanyu Model, Hunter, etc. were used to upgrade anti-aircraft guns, main gun barrels, wooden decks of this battleship and boats on it, masts, propellers, cranes, ladders, aircrafts, secondary weapons, boats, etc. I corrected a few mistakes, while most of assembling and paint were done according to the kit instruction. Due to the complexity of the camouflage, I hand-painted the superstructure, leaving the rest of the large chunk paint jobs to airbrush. I love full-hull 1/350 warships to be clean, so no weathering was done. And about the hull color being red or green, there seems to be a long-time disagreement, I personally like red, so the red hull, which looks rather beautiful (having seen other modeler’s build, I realized it’s hard to have a beautiful green go well with red, given the bright red deck, partly I guess because red and green do not naturally match). Finally, the whole building process took two-and-half months intermittently.
