1/350 SMS Seydlitz (HobbyBoss)

This is a great kit but I was always concerned about the rather bare hull details.  I therefore added the horizontal "strips" around the bow area, anti-torpedo net shelving with booms, plus shoelaces for the rolled-up nets!

A few crew figures, rudimentary representative rigging and a wooden deck (including for the boats) from blue wox completed it.  I couldn't resist the red funnel as at Jutland... it makes for a very colourful and interesting variation.

I hand painted it with Humbrol enamel paints but had to mix a batch white and light grey to produce the slightly lighter upper works.  Note that the kit painting guide has the boot topping located too far down.  Use dark grey rather than black for the topping.

All up, a very enjoyable build that is rewarding but trying too... with all the teeny-tiny photo-etch bits.
