SMS Hindenburg

1/700 SMS Hindenburg (HP Model)

The SMS Hindenburg belonged to the last trio of Battlecruisers to serve in the Kaiserliche Marine. She was ready for service one year after the battle of Jutland so she never fought against the Royal Navy. After the war ended Hindenburg was interned in Scapa Flow where she was sunk by the own crew on June 19th 1919. The model from HP Models is nicely detailed and easy to build. Anyway the masts should be replaced by scratch ones from brass rod. For extra detailling I used railings from GMM and brass gun tubes for the guns from NNT Modell. For displaying the Hindenburg I chose a scene on the Wilhelmshaven roads with some traffic around. Some of the crew are underway doing a boat exercise while others are in some gun exercise or wait for the liberty boat to depart.
