The History of the ship is a short story.
On May 24 together with her sisterships SMS Viribus Unitis and SMS Prinz Euegen she bombarded the Italian coastal town of Ancona.
Thereafter she only steamed out of Trieste for training manoeuvres.
At the end of the World War 1 she was ceded to Italy and sailed for Venice on 25 March 1919.
She lay there unused without function or purpose until 1923 and was scrapped at La Spezia during the course of 1924-25.
