| USS Des Moines CA-134 (Classic Warships) |

I was very impressed by John Galla's model of the USS Des Moines, CA-134. My father , Robert McGhee, served aboard the Des Moines from 1948 to 1952 as DC3 in Division R. I heard many fascinating stories about his time aboard this ship and vowed to one day build a model for him. Well, on his birthday in July this year, I will visit him in West Virginia, from Florida and his present will be the fulfilling of that vow. I had a month of from work, recovering from surgery in January 2003 and the model from Classic Warships was delivered with perfect timing. I estimate 120 hours of work went into building this ship, my first resin model, and I enjoyed every minute. Dad has no idea this is coming but is very nostalgic about his ship and I anticipate a very emotional response. Thank you John Galla and ModelWarships.com the many wonderful photos
were of great value in preparing this surprise for my father. I am presently
building a 1/350 scale model of the USS Enterprise, CVN-65 for myself.
