1/700 USS Tuscaloosa CA-37 (Trumpeter)

Trumpeter's Tuscaloosa kit in 700th scale with some reworked areas.  The kit is decent, especially regarding detail, where mold lines fall, etc. though comes up a bit short in the historical accuracy.  Gun deck with the 5 inchers was corrected so that the rearmost mount is inset of the ship's beam, not the middle mounts.  As well, forward portholes were covered over, extended towards bow the deckhouse turret #2 sits on, hodgepodge of kit parts for bridge/superstructure, scratched half level under bridge wings, and a few other correction of guns/directors which are thankfully included in the extra sprues.

Out of the box, she mimics a late 1942 version of the ship better than the box rendering (and somewhat cooler) of her pre/early war splotch camo garb.  Again, canvas was thrown over aircraft canopies for lack of a good clear finish and water is plaster that is painted, Mod Podged, and cotton added.
