1/350 HMS Belfast 1952 (Trumpeter)
Inspired by a great photo in the CASF section, I decided to convert this kit to Belfasts third appearance, off Korea in 1952.
Most of the alterations centered around the midships section, and involved making a new pom-pom platform in-between the funnels, two new deckhouses aft, and scratch building some quad pom-poms mounts. At this time no 20mm with carried, but she did have seven 40mm single mounts, which I adapted from the twin 20mm mounts included in the kit. All the ships boats were moved to new positions just aft of the bridge structure, only one crane was carried, this having a shorter jibs than the original ones, I used a left over PE jib from my PE locker. I didn't use the PE wind-defectors included in the kit, instead I replaced them with fine stretched sprue. The masts in the kit were the worst part of the kit, so I replaced them with brass rod.
All in all this is an excellent kit, apart from the terrible masts.
