1/96 HMS Cumberland 1st Class Armored Cruisers (scratchbuilt)
The HMS Cumberland model is the only model NOT built by me; I
saw her at the International Model Show at Olympia in London back in 1994
and at the time thought she was state of the art; subsequently when when
offered for sale in Modelboats magazine I had to buy her, travelling a
considerable distance and parting wiith a considerable amount of money....She
is fully RC but has never been afloat in my ownership having been placed
inside her large case immediately. With the benefit of the retroscope I
know that while it is good it is alas not state of the art.... BUT nevertheless
is a very attractive display model and makes a nice backdrop to the dining
room It is built to a scale (IIRC) of 1/96 and was scratchbuilt by
Mr Jackson of Bristol UK. The original ship was launched in 1902 as a first
class armoured cruiser for the Royal Navy.
