1/700 USS Virginia CGN-38 (JAG)
What do you do with your resin kit when an injection kit of the same subject is released? Build it!
This is my 1/700 USS Virginia CGN-38 built form JAG kit. While waiting for PE parts for our Canopus group build to arrive I decided to build something simple to keep myself busy. Virginia class CGN looked like an obvious choice. For some unexplained reason I decided to pick JAG's kit from my stash instead of building Dragon's offering. Despite owning almost the entire JAG modern USN line, this was the first time I've ever built a JAG kit. The kit's hull and superstructure looked fine to my eyes but I am not so sure about small parts. I ended up replace or scratch-built most of them.
I built the kit as USS Virginia in her 1980 fit. I think she looks most
elegant in this configuration---no dreaded cruise missile launcher boxes
at the time to break her graceful outline. Besides the small parts I really
enjoyed building it.
