1/350 USS Oakland CL-95 (Yankee Modelworks)
The USS Oakland (CL-95) was laid down by Bethlehem Steel Co., San Francisco,
Ca. on July 15, 1941. She was launched on October 23, 1942. She was 6000
tons and had a length of 541 feet 6 inches. Named for the city of Oakland,
California, she was designed as an anti-aircraft cruiser, not unlike the
Atlanta-class cruisers she was modified from. The USS Oakland was decommissioned
July 1, 1949 and sold for scrap December of 1959. The model itself, produced
by Yankee Modelworks, was a piece of cake to build. The quality of the
product was superb. An awesome project. Paints used for the model
was White Ensign and Polly scale.
