1/350 HMS Illustrious (Airfix)
Another Illustrious carrier, now is my take on the Airfix 1/350 kit representing Illustrious ca. 2010. The kit itself was in my opinion a very serious attempt from Airfix to renew the old palette of products with modern ones and I’m very pleased on this one. Very few details on building. Pieces fits almost perfectly but still space for improvement on details.Mostly build OOB with a little rigging by using heat-stretched sprues and some scratch build small pieces (antennas which were completely out of scale). She was hand-painted using Tamiya and Humbrol acrylic paints mostly, nothing very specific but my last time using only brush. There is another milestone on this model: first attempt on weathering using dry brush on very few surfaces of the ship.
It took a while to get it looking the way I wanted it to look. You can find a lot of pictures of the ships so the problem was really to decide on them.
I’m very happy with the result even considering it took something like 8 months of discontinued job.
