HMS Ocean

1/400 HMS Ocean (Heller)

This is built mainly out of the box but there are a few additions such as the extra planes, figures and the change in the decals. The extra planes are the American F6F Hellcats adopted by the RAF for the campaign in the pacific. HMS Ocean was one of the British Colossus class light fleet carriers built for WW2, although it was commissioned too late for the war (8 August 1945) it was used in Korea and later became a training ship. My father-in-law served his national service on it in the fifties and it was scrapped in 1962.

Only one Colossus class still exists today and that is HMS Vengeance which was sold to the Argentineans who made many modifications to it including an angled deck. A group in Britain are trying to buy it back to be used as a floating museum and conference centre.
