1/48 USS Nicholas DD-449 (Shipmodels.lv)
The model is a group build of Latvian masters from Shipmodels.lv, led by Vasilijs Jefimovs. The master parts for the hull forming, for resin casting and for bronze casting were made by Vasilijs Jefimovs, Jurijs Aleksandrovs and Vadims Pjatakovs. Assembly of models was done with assistance of Aleksandrs Ananjevs and Vasilijs Krasavcevs. Resin casting was done by Igors Voronovs. Design of photoetching as well as actual bronze casting was done at Tehnoart Models. The hull of the model (including the deck) is made by fiberglass/epoxy forming. The lower superstructure, gun towers, funnels, range finder, bollards, depth bombs are made by resin casting. Upper superstructure, gunwales and mast - handcrafted by cutting and soldering metal sheets. Oerlikons and bofors are assembled by soldering photoetched and bronze casted details. Gun barrels, ventils, fire taps, flywheels, reels and other small parts are bronze casted, photoetched or hand made by cutting and soldering of metal sheets and metal wires.
Anchor chains are bought at JoTiKa Ltd (the only commercially bought detail in this model).
