1/350 USS Laffey DD-459 (Dragon)

USS Laffey (DD-459) has always had a special place in my heart. The ship came within throwing distance at Savo of the IJN Hiei, spraying her upperworks before being pummeled and torpedoed.

This ship showcases an older water technique I was using, though it's still fairly effective. Laffey was painted with Model Master and Lifecolor acrylics and weathered using the hairspray technique and oils. I based her rough appearance on how she looked shortly after rescuing survivors from the USS Wasp.
