1/350 USS Gearing DD-710 (Dragon)

Though she was commissioned too late to have participated in the WWII Pacific Theatre, the USS Gearing class destroyers have that pugnacious and dogged look about them which conveys the fighting potential they could have brought to bear had the Pacific War lasted longer. This superb 2009 Dragon model kit was enhanced with Gold Medal Models photoetch and L’Arsenal aftermarket sets in order to bring this tough and sleek US navy destroyer to life. The stern depth charges were all scratch built while the k-gun charges were L’Arsenal. The original kit mainmast was replaced by one from a straightened out paperclip in order not to bend when rigging lines were later attached. The rigging lines were from fine E-Z line. This model was originally built over a 6 month period in 2015 but the rigging was only attached very recently. I hope you enjoy the images.
