1/192 USS John R. Craig DD-885 (Iron Shipwrights)

This is the Iron Shipwrights 1/192 FRAM 1 Gearing (USS Johnston) built as the DD-885 USS John R. Craig.  Used as much PE from the kit as possible... mostly for the two radars and rails. Gold Medal rails were also used as well as Tom's Modelworks PE Doors. Forward mast is completely scratch built as well as the Mk.25 Radar Mount. Barrels are Bruce Buchner's barrels.... decals came from Gold Medal and Hawk Graphics. Rigging line used is "EZ Line" and whip antennas are from Orange Hobby. The pedestals are from Pontos and the case and base from Grandpa's Cabinets.

I had estimated about 50 ~ 60 hours to complete this kit... I was very wrong. The first half of the build was mostly clean up and also research trying to get her as close as I could to the pictures I found. I stopped keeping up with my hours after 60, but, I am confident there are well over 100 hours in this build. It turned out to be a really nice display piece and I would glad to offer any help to anyone who is considering building this kit as far as what I ran in to during this build and what you can expect.
