HMCS Skeena

1/350 HMCS Skeena (WestCoast Models)

This is my build of a St Laurent class HMCS Skeena. She was launched in 1957 an after a few refits, scrapped in 1996. These ships were the first major warships designed and built in Canada and were known as the "Cadillac's of the RCN." I used the WestCoast Models kit and unfortunately they are no longer in business. I prefer full hull on my ships and so I carved a hull bottom and details from the waterline down. I also added various details as well as rebuilding the radar mast. I used a mixed bag of PE from the kit, GMM, WEM and Toms. Decals were by Darren at Hawkone graphics. I have wanted a "Cadillac" for a long time, as my Dad served on a few in the 60's, and I'm glad I have one in my collection.

I would also like to thank Keith, Paul, Fred and Darren for supplying some great reference photos and drawings.
