1/600 HMS Bristol (Airfix / conversion)

You might not think that there is much in common between the Royal Navy County class destroyers and the Type 82 destroyer apart from size but the hulls were surprisingly similar and so it proved relatively easy to convert the Airfix HMS Devonshire kit into an acceptable hull for HMS Bristol. I reused as much of the original Devonshire kit as possible including the fore funnel, main mast, ship's boats and davits, two sections of superstructure, Sea Cat directors used as Ikara directors, and Sea Slug components fashioned into an approximation of the Sea Dart launcher. My Airfix spares bin also furnished the fore-mast, Limbo mortar, aft funnels, and some surplus boats used to form the large snub nosed barges. White Ensign Models PE supplied the railing, yard arms, and Type 965P radar antenna.
