HMS Musketeer was built by Fairfields at Govan on the river Clyde completing in September 1942 my model depicts her as in April 1943, on trials she managed 34.2 knots with a fuel consumption rate of 18.2 tons an hour and it took 16 tons of paint to cover her, she was fitted with weather-proof twin 4.7inch Mk XX turrets with 250 rounds per gun, at 137 tons per turret they were 9 tons overweight but could elevate up to 50 degrees for AA fire, armament was 6 x 4.7inch, 1 x 4inch AA, 1 x quad 2pdr, 5 x 20mm, 4 x 21inch TT and 42 DCs, the quad TT Mk VIII*** mount was quick training and she was fitted for Artic service with extra hot steam pipes being plumbed around her turrets and TTs and additional asbestos cladding to retain as much internal heat as possible, her radars were only a basic type 290 set on her masthead and a type 285 on her director, she was put on the disposal list in 1955 and scrapped the following year.
