HMS Oribi was built by Fairfields at Govan on the Cyde completing in July 1941 as the first of the war emergency build destroyers to enter service, during trials on the Arran measured mile she managed a speed of 33.86 knots with a fuel consumption rate of 16.8 tons an hour, when fully fitted out she was 80 tons over her designed weight and after a year of war service another 43 tons had been added, the O class introduced a new pattern of camouflage known as the Special Home Fleet Destroyer Scheme, HMS Oribi was armed with 4 x 4.7inch on Mk XVIII mounts which had the counterweight on top of the gun to give extra deck clearance for a 40 degree elevation, they had a max range of 9.5 miles, she also had 1 x 4inch AA with a 5 mile range, 1 x quad 2pdr pom-pom, 4 x single 20mm, 4 x 21inch torpedo tubes and 60 depth charges, she carried 1,000 rounds of 4.7inch, 300 rounds of 4inch, 7,200 rounds of 2pdr and 9,600 rounds of 20mm and when fully loaded with ammo she had a 2 degree list to port, HMS Oribi was transferred to the Turkish Navy in 1946 and was finally scrapped in 1965.
