1/700 HMS Raider 1943 (Atlantic Models)

Converted from an Atlantics Models kit of HMS venus my version of HMS Raider depicts her in January 1943, she was built by Cammell Lairds at Birkenhead completing in November 1942, machinery was based on the J class and she could do 31 knots, her squared transom stern increased fuel economy adding 70 miles to her overall range, Raider had portable depth charge traps fitted instead of fixed racks and her colours were G10 dark grey, G20 grey-green, G45 light grey and white, the Director of Operations Division (Home) at the Admiralty noted in 1942 that the Two Speed Destroyer Sweep minesweeping equipment had rarely been used and TSDS would be stored ashore at Alex for the Rs serving in the Med Fleet so the DC outfits were removable in half the R class to allow for sweep gear to be fitted only if needed, Raiders armament in 1943 was 4 x 4.7inch, 4 x 2pdr pom-poms, 6 x 20mm, 8 x 21inc TT, 45 depth charges and only 2 x throwers with normal ammo carried being 1,000 rounds of 4.7 inch, 7,200 rounds of 2pdr and 14,400 rounds of 20mm, the lattice mast aft carried a high frequency direction finder to identify where radio transmissions were coming from and her masthead air search radar was the basic type 291 with a best range of 35 miles, in 1948 HMS Raider was sold to India and became INS Rana, she was finally scrapped in 1979.
