The Harusame was a Shiratsuyu-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her name means "Light Spring Rain Before the Leaves Bud", or just "Spring Rain". She was very active during the war in which she participated in the famous Naval Battles of Guadalcanal and other escort duties. On 8th June 1944, while on a troop transport run to Biak, Harusame was sunk by U.S. Army Air Force B-25s 30 miles (55 km) northwest of Manokwari, New Guinea.
The model is heavily modified & super-detailed with photo-etch detailing & various scratch-built details. The scene is based on the last moment of Harusame as it was about to be attacked by B-25 during the troop transport run to Biak as the B-25 flying straight towards her about to drop the bomb.
This model is the winner of small scale ship category in the Australian Model Expo 2007.
