1/700 Rescue of Captain Phillips (Hobby Boss)
For the IPMS Nationals this year I wanted to make an entry into the Vignette category, which I’m not sure I fully understand yet. This is one part of a two part project regarding the events surrounding the taking of the Maersk Alabama and her Captain, Richard Phillips. This Vignette represents the movie version of what happened. In the movie, the USS Bainbridge was played by the USS Truxton. This model has the hull number for the Bainbridge with the name Truxton stenciled on the stern. For the base I was inspired by an armor diorama which used historical photographs to help tell the story. I’m doing that in both models. This one has scenes from the movie. I was pleased to have taken second at the IPMS Nationals this year.
