1/350 USS Rodney M. Davis (Academy)
This is the Academy Oliver Hazard Perry class kit modified to represent the RM Davis around 2006, when she participated in a "CrackPac" operating with USCG teams to do drug interdiction. During this cruise, she confiscated around $250 million worth of cocaine from smugglers. I chose to build the Davis when I was looking through the various ships of the OHP class, since she is named for a Marine Corporal who earned the Medal Of Honor in the Vietnam War, sacrificing himself to save his fellow Marines.
This model was built using the Standard PE set from Pontos, supplemented with a few pieces from the spares box.
A USCG Dauphin helicopter is eventually going to go on her flight deck, but right when I was just about done with the ship, I dropped it upside down and did some pretty bad damage to the main mast. I bent the mast back to shape as best I could, but haven't bothered with the helo yet because I am still mad that I dropped her, so she doesn't have my full enthusiasm back yet.
