1/700 HTMS Naresuan (Kobou Hiryu)
Naresuan (na/re/suan) class frigate was the latest and became the most elegant warship of the Royal Thai Navy. HTMS Naresuan, the class leader was commissioned on 15.12.1994 while her sister ship, HTMS Taksin followed later on 28.09.1995
HTMS Naresuan, a ship name was to honor King Naresuan the Great (between 1555-1605) who struck back the Burmese attack and killed the Burma crown prince in personal combat on elephant back on January 18, 1592 and giving independence to Siam (Thailand). The Royal Thai Armed Forces have dated this day was "Royal Thai Armed Forces Day".
HTMS Naresuan is 2,985 tones full load and dimensiona are 120.50 x 13.60 x 3.68 m. She carries 2 x twin Harpoon launchers, 1 x 5”/54 gun, 2 x twin 37/76 mm. AA guns, 4 x 0.50” machine guns, 2 x 324mm. triple TTs and 26 barrel Chinese made decoy launcher. A plan to install 8 cell Mk.41 VSL for Sea Sparrow SAM after main gun was cancelled.
I had to build a new main mast from brass wire and sprue to replace a solid resin one. A LW-08 Chinese made radar modified from GMM US and USSR PE detail sets, and railing as well. Crew comes from Eduard pre-painted naval figures.
