Shizuoka Hobby Show by Peter Van Buren |
The 1/144 Yamato is not a kit but fully assembled for around US$8600. The company seems associated with Fujimi and was displayed with their stuff. I jokingly said "I'd like to order two please" and the guy staffing the booth smiled and asked me for a sizable deposit. I note that $8600 doesn't buy as much as it used to-- look at the lame catapults.
You can also see pictured the Hasegawa Mikasa, Dragon Randolph and Tamiya products. As best I can tell the 1/350 ships (Bismarck, et al) are just remolds with no changes.
The Missouri is 1/350 and I do not know how many GMM figures were used but I would say about "too many."
Lots of shots of the Tamiya "Museum" including our own Kelly Quirk's masterwork and some rare shots of early Tamiya wooden models. Wonder what they would be worth on eBay?
Best wishes from Japan,
Peter
