RAF 'Cuckoo'  Rescue float, these were moored  at regular intervals on the 'bomber path' between Dover
and Great  Yarmouth on the East coast of the UK, to allow downed airmen a sporting chance of survival.
They contained food, flares , dry clothing and cigarettes. They were 'emptied' on a daily basis by visiting RAF
launches, sometimes the occupants were downed Luftwaffe aircrew!!
