1/144 HMCS Oakville (Revell)

Over 30 years ago I made the Matchbox, (now Revell), model of this ship in the scale of 1/72. I made it as HMCS Oakville because I was living in the town at the time. The model is now in the Oakville Museum as part of their permanent collection with the HMCS Oakville exhibit.

When I found out that Revell had issued a new tooling of HMCS Snowberry this year in the scale of 1/144 I just had to build it as HMCS Oakville.and I attach some pictures of the final result. The kit is advertised as having over 500 parts, (some of which are very small), resulting in much of the work having to be done using a magnifier head set! I basically built is out of the box with a couple of minor changes. The railings around the main gun and the fore deck presented a challenge as the stanchions are provided and the modeller has to decide how to complete the railings.

This was a pleasure to build but patience is required. It makes a nice addition to my fleet.
