1/700 HMS Latona M76 (Revell)

This picture is a representation of HMS Latona  M76, an Abdiel Class Minelayer, Commissioned 4th May 1941 and sunk off Tobruk in October in 1941.  Her motto was Vestgia nostra cavate  (Beware out tracks) which was a cracking fit for its intended use.

I have taken great liberties with the Ship, its colour, Tobruk and its layout.  Tried to get a light clear sky to show Mediterranean location with heat and dust.  Tobruk faces Northish and stitched together foreground from multiple black and white WW2 photo from various angles.   I could not find any info on HMS Latona actual colour so tried to get right combination of shade differences from the few B&W photos with colours that would of been used in the Med, probably wrong.  Struggled with making kit resemble few photo's so not great.  One of the adjustments I will make after looking at it for a while is to change the angle of the guns and add firing puffs of smoke.  Original idea was a surprise attack so Ships in harbour caught unawares but I doubt that stands up to scrutiny with the clear sky, so will alter that - eventually.
