1/700 HMS Wave M385 (Starling Models)

This multimedia picture is a representation of HMS Wave  M385, an Algerine Class Minesweeper, Commissioned 6th August 1943 and Decommissioned in 1962.  This shows Her aground in St Ives Bay in Cornwall after a storm on 30th September 1952.  During WW2 Her pennant number was J385.  Was impressed with the model detail for so small a Ship. My own lack of ability when etch pinged away to hide in the carpet weave frustrating but great parts, poorly executed, but like so many on site, probably, hope springs eternal in mastering the little devils.

This came about as I bought a drainage connector for the Submarine idea, (shown in picture before being cut into 4 pieces) got 3 round cut outs for Submarines from the straight ridged part but was left with the end, which was an interesting shape and not what I could use for a submarine.  Decided to do a small type porthole with the plastic rim painted gold to resemble brass to differentiate it from the larger round portholes, plus the larger Major Warships seem to grab the imagination and headlines while the smaller more numerous vessels (minesweepers down), of all shapes and sizes do the dirty, boring, repetitive tasks, day in day out so Gold about right.
