1/350 Novgorod 1880s (Samek)
The Samek kit of Novgorod represents the ship as a hybrid of short-lived 1873, 1874 and 1875 fits. I modified the kit to represent the main configuration of the 1880s – 1890s. The main reference sources were an article in Warship 2015 and a Russian language booklet in the Gangut series. I scratchbuilt new 11” guns, the pair of 87mm guns, the large central cowl vent, the aft superstructure, wheelhouse and bridgewings. The main / forward superstructure was extended forward to a prow, funnels were relocated for correct symmetry and lots of extra details were added, including inside the barbette. I added Northstar anchors, figures and railings.
