1/100 Persian Gulf Trader (Lindberg)

This is the Lindberg “Persian Gulf Trader”, a two-masted Dhow or Baghlah. Originally, the kit was sold by Pyro as “Dhow of Zanzibar. It’s a great little kit, containing barely any parts. Photo references of similar ships still common in the Mediterranean,  Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean and all along the African coast served as inspiration for the rigging and for my decision to shorten both masts considerably and rake the mainmast forward several degrees.

My color selection was inspired by…. (ok, “completely ripped off”)  from Fernando Torre - an excellent modeler who has posted his rendition of the same model here on this website. (Along with many other great models.) His choice of royal blue for the hull was just too cool. So, I had no choice but to steal the idea! Thanks, Fernando! Hope you don’t mind!
