1/64 Skipjack Oyster Boat (Lindberg)
Say the name "Lindberg" and its almost like a punch line to most modelers.
But there's one thing I have always appreciated about Lindberg, and that's
their line of sailing ship kits, including commercial work boats like the
Tuna Clipper, Shrimp Boat, and this Chesapeake Bay Oyster Boat.
Most of these were re-pops of old Pyro/Lifelike kits with the original
tooling going back 50 years or more. I'm grateful to
Lindberg for keeping these around, because it's unlikely this subject matter
will ever be done in styrene again.
Although they have all the issues you'd expect with old-tooling kits,
many of these old sailors build up into really pleasing models. I
just finished this one - it's back-to-work time tomorrow, so I'm going
to have to cool it for a while. But I'm really happy to have built
this great old kit!
