1/12 Pilar, Hemingway's boat (Scratchbuilt)
Scratch build of PILAR in 1:12, from photos and an old Wheeler sales brochure. While an older "Papa" is shown in the fighting chair, the boat is shown as it likely looked in the 40's, including the now decked-over forward cockpit. A complete build thread can be found on RC Groups, as this is an operating model. And is Pilar a warship? Hemingway certainly wanted to think so! You can read elsewhere about his controversial, even comical, attempts to hunt U-boats off Cuba, with the official support of the US government.
