Spanish Galleon
by Rod Millard

1/100 Spanish Galleon (Imai)

The Spanish Armada used four masted Galleon's like this until approximately the 16th century, then changed to three masted ships. They were more agile and easier to maneuver than the four masted ships.

I used an Imai kit for this build with some changes. Turned my own masts and yards out of maple stock. Used Model Expo blocks and rope for rigging. Hard to see in the photos, but I rigged the cannons and gun ports. I cut out the stern windows and replaced with brass mesh, than used Krystal Klear for the glass. Wood stain and artist oils where used for the finish and weathering.
