1/700 MV Melbourne Star (C.O.B. constructs)
I enjoy browsing the Shapeways site for unusual 1/700 ships, not available in any other form. I also have taken interest in collecting ships involved with Operation Pedestal, the August 1942 attempt to resupply besieged Malta. So the fast merchant vessel, Melbourne Star, was going to be a great addition to my 1/700 collection.
I re-worked the Shapeways kit to replace the clunky masts and ships boats. The masts and derricks were replaced with brass wire, and ships boats came from the spare parts box. The windows in the main deckhouse had to be reduced to match the wartime look of the Melbourne Star.
