1/700 SS Persia (Scratchbuilt)

Originally named Water Buffalo, Persia was built towards the end of WWI sold to a Belgium shipping firm after the war. Escaped the German advance on Belgium during WWII and served with the allied merchant fleet. Ran aground deliberatly in Iceland to prevent her from sinking. Repaired some while later and refloated, after only two more voyages was then taken for use as breakship for the forthcoming allied invasion, for some reason only after the dockyard had cut holes in her to enable a controlled sink was the order recinded. She was patched up and put back in servis only to be sunk on her first trip back to Belgium. She now lies of the south devon coast and is a popular diving wreck. Built from plasticard and evergreen with scrap p/etch from my spares box, the bow and stern are miliput. the model was finished in hand painted acrylics with pastel chalk weathering. The water is a ready mix filler.
