1/350 HMHS Mauretania (Mr Hobby)

Here is the HMHS Mauretania done from the Mr Hobby Lusitania kit.  Last year, an older gentleman contacted my local IPMS group asking if someone could help finish a project for him.  Since I am the “ship guy” they put me in touch with him.  A friend of his was working on the Mauretania for him and then had a stroke and was unable to finish.  She was partially assembled and painted.  The hull and superstructure were assembled and painted.  There was a lot of overspray, gaps, and non-matching paint on her so I completely stripped all of it off and repainted everything.  I partially disassembled some areas for repairs, filler, and painting.  I used the Tom’s Model Works Titanic/Lusitania PE sets and added the additional boats and davits on the rear deckhouse.  I used stretched sprue for the funnel stays and Modelkasten 0.15 mm wire for the rest of the rigging.  I had new decals made for her and finished her off with a quick spray of dullcote.  The project ended up taking much more work and much longer than I originally expected but he was very happy with the result.
