1/600 RMS Mauretania (Airfix)
I have long wanted to be able to build this ship, but unfortunately theAirfix Mauretania model is not a modern piece. Practically nothing else remained of thebox except the hull, funnels and lifeboats during the construction. The ship received new decks from Evergreensheets, doors and windows from the completion of different photoetch sets, orborrowed, e.g. 1/700 from the Titanic set.Itried to solve everything on the basis of photos (J. Kent Layton's book Theunseen Mauretania was also a great help), there were several details that Inoticed in the archive pictures. But I have to admit, there were areas forwhich I had to use the builder's model as a basis.Igot a lot of help from Jim Baumann, who shared with me the information he hadat the beginning of the construction, and several people helped me on the forum. Thanks again to everyone who was able tohelp with the work.
If you are interested in more details about the construction process, checkit out on the forum ,
My boat didn't turn out as nice as I wanted, but in the end she won asilver medal in the master ship category at the 2024 Mosonshow ??
