1/350 RMS Titanic (Minicraft)
This is my rendition of the 1/350 Minicraft RMS Titanic. The build took about 2 years to complete, working on an off with the model. Minicraft states this can be a Museum Quality Piece. Well it is far from that. Those that have built this model will know that it takes a lot of time and effort to get a good fit and try to make it as authentic as possible.I used many reference sources for the build and special thanks to the Titanic Research and Modeling Association (TRMA) for all their content and forums when I had questions and issues with the build.
The model is lighted with over 102 LED’s as well as some fiber optics. I used both GMM and Tom’s Model works for the photo-etched detailing. She was painted with Model Master, Testors, and some Floquil enamels. I tried to match the paint as close as possible with the paint reference from the TRMA.
Though not completely accurate in every detail and not what I would consider Museum Quality I am very pleased with the build and the results. The model sits above my entertainment system in my family room in a display case for all to see. It was a challenging and fun project. I would recommend to anyone to add this to their collection.
