1/600 RMS Titanic (Academy)
This is the Academy 1:600 Titanic model built virtually out of the box. It made a pleasant change from scratchbuilding. Much to my surprise I did find some difficulty building this kit as the instructions were not all that clear. While building the kit I took all the funnel parts off the sprue and built them. It was only then I noticed they are all different lengths (as they sit on different structures on the decks) and it was a huge problem to sort them out again. The hull has full rivet and plate detail which made painting the yellow cheatline neatly along the hull virtually impossible. If I were building this kit again I would paint the hull and the cheatline before fixing the white superstructure in place.Etched fittings are by Tom’s Modelworks, rigging is stretched sprue. Now I need to buy two more of this kit to convert them to the Britannic and the Olympic.
