1/600 RMS Windsor Castle (Scratchbuilt)
The Windsor Castle was the largest passenger & cargo liner operated by the Union-Castle Line on the Britain to South Africa route. She was conservative in design but offered public rooms and open deck areas facing forward and aft. She was fully air-conditioned. The advent of the Jumbo-Jet - which led to a drop in the number of sea passengers - meant that, like other ships of that time, she became unprofitable.During the years 1977 to 1991 she served as an office, leisure centre and static accommodation. From June 1991 she served as private accommodation for Yiannis Latsis and his family. She was scrapped in 2005 at Alang, India
The Model was built using the following materials:
- Various thicknesses of plastic card
- Plastic rods and strips by Evergreen
- Etched brass railings by Tom's Modelworks
- Decals were home printed
- The lifeboats were 3-d printed by Iceman from the Britmodeller site.
