1/600 RMS Mauretania (Airfix)
I built this from an older Airfix kit in 1/600 scale of the classic ocean greyhound and Blue Ribband record holder. I've made this ship before, but this time I decided to go all out and add a lot of extras.
I used Tom's Modelworks generic liner/merchant ship photoetch brass set in 1/600. And the rigging is brass wire and 0.004 nylon line. The most difficult and tedious part of the construction wasn't the mind-numbingly dull job of painting all the port holes. It was adding the support columns between the deck edges on the superstructure. Because of the natural variations in the plastic, no two of those supports is the same size and it took a lot of fiddling with the pieces to make them all fit.
